About Preschool
Mission Statement
We are committed to providing a safe, healthy learning environment where young children and families grow in a positive way.
Philosophy
We believe in
creating a developmentally appropriate learning environment that
reflects preschool children’s cultural backgrounds. This environment
will provide each preschool child an opportunity to develop language,
motor, social-emotional and intellectual skills. Our staff and family
partnership will strive to build a positive foundation for future
success.
Program
The Prekindergarten
Program is for qualified three, four and five year olds. The overall
goal of the program is to increase a child’s potential for school
success by providing positive, nurturing experiences in developing
intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. A parent
interview is completed by parents at the preschool screening for the
purpose of obtaining socio-emotional, behavioral, environmental,
medical, and stress indicators which will provide programming designed
to best meet the needs of each student.
Requirements for Enrollment
• Proof of immunizations and current school health exam
• A certified birth certificate (recommended)
• Social Security Number (recommended)
• Free developmental screening for your child or recommendation from a referring agency
Curriculum
The program uses
the Creative Curriculum, a developmentally appropriate program for three
through five year old children which aligns with the Illinois Early
Learning and Development Standards. This curriculum will provide
opportunities for your child to grow socially, emotionally,
intellectually, and physically.

Attendance
Regular attendance
is expected and extremely important in contributing to your child’s
school success. Illinois state law requires parents to telephone the
school when their child will be absent for any reason
Health Policies
Special care is
given to ensure a healthy learning environment. If your child is exposed
to a communicable or infectious disease, please notify your child’s
teacher. Do not send your child if you think he/she might be ill and
call to notify the school. If your child becomes sick at school, you
will be notified. Remember to leave dependable emergency numbers so we
may contact you.
Transportation
Transportation
arrangements for children attending sites within school districts are
made by each local districts. These local districts notify parents of
the pick-up and delivery time. Your child’s safety and well being is our
number one concern. Children arriving on buses are met daily by the
classroom teacher and assistant. ( Transportation is not provided for
all programs.)
Written Parental Permission of Pickup and Delivery
If someone other
than the parent or legal guardian is to pick up your child for
dismissal, written permission is required. Adults may be requested to
provide picture identification; this policy is in effect to protect your
child.
Behavior Management
The main goal of
our program is to prepare your child for future success. Development of
self-control and self-discipline is key to kindergarten readiness.
Teacher/parent communication is essential for growth in this area.
Please feel free to discuss any questions you may have with your child’s
teacher.
Assessment
The Creative
Curriculum assessment tools will be used to document children’s progress
throughout their time in the program. Parents will receive written
reports at parent conferences and at the end of the year. Additional
parent conferences will be held upon request of the teacher and/or the
parent. Those children who have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) will
receive progress reports on a quarterly basis. All students will also be
assessed for early language and literacy growth in the fall, winter,
and spring.

Early Arrivals
There is no adult
supervision available for children who are “left” at school. At no time
should children be left unsupervised. Parents or family members
transporting a child to school need to walk with that child to the
meeting area and release him/her into the care of program staff. Please
observe regular classroom hours.
